June is wedding month...bring on the bling!

Sparkle, tulle and vellum - a perfect combination for the new Mr. & Mrs. - So quick and simple!

Stampin' Up!'s new circles framelits combine with each other and, oddly enough, the Holiday Ornament framelit dies for the perfect bling rings.  I literally threw this together in ten minutes for the Paper Players Bring on the Bling Challenge #150.

Some other goodies I used for this card are the Rotary Date Stamp from the This & That Epic Day suite, the Label Love stamp set (Mr & Mrs.) and some basic rhinestone jewels.  Bling, accomplished!

got scraps?

Boy, do I ever!  You'd think I was born in the depression era; when in fact I'm really just a super thrifty gal  craft hoarder.  Anyway, got some scraps?  Make a whimsical birthday card!

I used Stampin' Up!'s new Circle Framelit dies in a very random pattern on Whisper White card stock, rolled it through the Big Shot and then pierced the outside using the circles template from the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack.  Adhered my leftover Sycamore Street (Sale-A-Bration) scrap squares (or oblongs) directly behind the circles then framed that with Island Indigo Cardstock on a Whisper White base.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

Now there's one idea for the plethora of scrap paper and cardstock we all have lying around well organized and filed by color, pattern and size.

cheerful fun birthday - fsm#89

How fun is this card? I'm pretty sure it's my favorite, so far.  Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana combine with banners, polka dots and lots of white space to keep your focus on the sentiment.

To stamp the sentiment from the label love happy birthday to you stamp, I masked off each portion I wanted to stamp with a post it note, using a sponge dauber to ink the words only. This would have been much easier, had I had a collection of Many Marvelous Markers.  I'm totally ordering myself a set this month!

My inspiration for this card was a sketch at Freshly Made Sketches - and while it's not exactly the sketch, it uses all the elements.  Use sketches as a starting point and jump off where ever you feel comfortable!

I'd love to teach you how to make a fun, cheerful card while you earn free products from Stampin' Up! - Give me a call, a click, or send me an email if you'd like to host a fun girls night in.

Liz

2013-2014 Catalog Marker Club!

Have you ever laid out the perfect scrapbook page or card, having carefully chosen your cardstock, designer series paper, stamp sets and ink, only to realize there's something missing?  Do you have some sentiment stamps that cry out for more than one color?  And what about those wonderful floral stamps, do you really want the stem and flowers to be the same color?  Wouldn't you like to have your journaling or signature on a card, coordinate with the entire layout?  Well, I have the answer.  Stampin' Write markers.  In every color.

Stampin' Write markers are water based dye ink, acid free markers with dual tips; one fine for handwriting or outlining and the other, a flexible brush tip to add color to your stamped images.

You could scoot on over to my Stampin'Up! online store and place your order for Many Marvelous Markers, item # 119806; all 38 colors in our color collection (except Whisper White and Very Vanilla) in one sturdy case with extra space for In Color markers.  It's $109.95 plus sales tax and shipping.  And then you'd want to coordinate those markers with our cardstock, because, after all, they match our cardstock perfectly.  You'll want to order from each of our color collections, brights, subtles, regals and neutrals; respectively item #'s 119706, 119704, 119705, 119707 at $6.95 each for a total of $27.80.  Of course, then you'll want our Very Vanilla and Whisper White cardstock, which are the perfect surface on which to stamp your image or sentiment.  Cruise on over to item #'s 101650 and 100730, those are $8.50 each, total $17.00.  Let's add in a Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen in White #105021, perfect for doodling, journaling or adding dimension to stamps on darker colored card stock, for $3.95  Ready to write your check for $185.66?

What if you could get all of the above over a 4 month period and enjoy the hostess benefits of an additional $25.00 worth of Stampin' Up! product FREE  for a total for $46.42 (including tax and shipping) a month?  And then, a FREE marker class just for you at the end of the 4 month period.

It's a great way to establish your collection while gaining hostess benefits without having to host a workshop.

Here's how it works:  every month I will order one of each of the items listed above and you will receive 10 markers in one collection (brights, subtles, regals or neutrals), 20 sheets of assorted cardstock in the color collection of your markers, 20 sheets of either Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock (brights and subtles get Whisper White and regals and neutrals get Very Vanilla).  Each month only ONE member will receive the Uni-Ball Signo White Gel pen and that member receives the hostess dollars for that month.  Use your hostess dollars for anything in the catalog, but why not order the 2013-2015 In Color collection of Stampin' Write markers?

I will place the order on the 15th of each month and charge your stored credit card for four consecutive months.  At the end of the four months, everyone will receive the sturdy marker case AND a free, just for you class, to learn a variety of marker techniques.

Sound like something you'd be interested in?  Call, text or email me to get in on this club opportunity soon, there are only two spots left for this club.  Additional clubs can be made with a total of 4 members, just let me know.

Retro Sketches #66 - my take

Seems I'm inspired lately by sketch and color challenges, here's a new one from Retro Sketches

A brand new, unopened package of Epic Day Designer Series Paper was sitting there, begging,  just dying to be used along with its coordinating washi tape and stickers.  The Typeset Alpha Dies are my new favorite thing ever, and I'm getting SO much use from them! I stamped a PS from the Sketched Alphabet set, used a Stamp n Write marker for the periods and then I dug out a stamp from the Border Banter set, which was one of the first stamps I owned, from my starter kit order and stamped the card, and the Artisan Label punch in Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake ink.

when the man goes fishin'...

It's a gorgeous day on the shoreline, I really should have gone to the beach.  Instead, I fooled around with some new Stampin' Up! products today.

Washi tape.  I wanna love it.  It's so cute, it's so trendy, it's so f-u-n!  But I'm not sure it's me.  This may take some getting used to... I wasn't too sure about this card, but I posted this on our Stampin' Up! demonstrator's website and it got such great feedback.  I was a little surprised.

Gingham.  So fresh, so fun, so quintessentially summer.  And after this past winter, who isn't ready for a little summertime feel?  I made use of some more washi tape in this one too.  Point for me.

This banner birthday was super fun to make, using Stampin' Up!'s paper piercing templates I just lined up two lines of holes across the page and poked, then crossstiched a few x's with embroidery thread.  This card features the new Label Love stamp set and Artisan Label punch.   The only use my sewing machine has received since becoming a demonstrator is on paper!  Have one? Pull it out and get stitching.  Stitching on paper is so easy.

Strawberry Slush and Crisp Canteloupe are two new colors to Stampin' Up! this year, they're part of the 2013-15 In Color collection, which also includes fabulous colors like Coastal Cabana (my all time favorite), Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar - hungry yet?  Here I've paired them together, using a technique where you ink the front side of your embossing folder (here with strawberry slush ink) and run it through your Big Shot.  I really like the subtle tone on tone look it gives using the same color ink as your cardstock.

Call, text or email me to book your Stampin' Up! workshop today and get free products from our brand spankin' new 2013-2014 Annual Catalog found here.

ps - going out for dinner tonight, guess that's why they call it 'fishing' and not 'catching' - heh.

CCM254 -and FSM 88 Goodbye Friendly Phrases

Stampin' Up!'s 2013-14 Annual Catalog becomes effective today at 2pm for those of us on the East coast, yay!  One of the stamp sets that is retiring and won't be carried over to the new catalog is Friendly Phrases; it's one of my all time favorites.  While I'll be sad to see it retire, there are a bunch of new sentiment stamp sets in the new catalog that I'm coveting and at 2pm today I plan to order all some of them.

You can still get your hands on Friendly Phrases until June 3, 2013 at my online store.

Thought I'd pay a little tribute to this very versatile set with a color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary
and adapted a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

I'm not typically a three color person, I feel my safest using one or two (with a neutral like Whisper White, Very Vanilla or Crumb Cake)  so this challenge pushed me - and I liked it!

I am thrilled with the way the X and O turned out, they remind me so much of a yellow and blue tie dye bikini I had years ago.  I miss that bikini (and the body that went with it - lol)!  I enjoyed this color challenge and will definitely work more toward three color combinations in the future.

Products Used:  Cardstock - Island Indigo, So Saffron, Pool Party, Whisper White and Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Island Indigo, So Saffron, Pool Party, White Craft
Stamp Set:  Friendly Phrases, Oh Hello
Other:   Chevron Embossing Folder, Brads, Typeset Alpha Dies, Bleach

Don't forget, you have until June 3 to purchase the Friendly Phrases or any retired stamp set from Stampin' Up! - please visit my online store to see the complete selection of retired items.  And set your alarm for 2pm Eastern time today for the release of the Annual 2013-14 catalog which can be found at my online store as well!

CCMC253 -

A quick post to show off one of Stampin' Up!'s newest In Colors 2013-15 Coastal Cabana and an old stand by, Night of Navy.  Love this color combination, don't you?

There are times my creative muse escapes me and rather than wait for it to return, I turn to the plethora of card sketches available on the internet.   This one from Create with Connie and Mary was the perfect starting point for me.

Here I've used our Mosaic Embossing Folder for the background, the Mosaic Madness stamp set on Whisper White card stock, Label Love stamp set and Artisan Label Punch with some Basic Rhinestone Jewel Accents and some Silver Glimmer Paper.

Three days left til Friday, May 31 when you can get all this product, yay!!

A little sneak peek...

I got a little late start on the new catalog pre-order, waiting until a few days into it to place mine.  And then I immediately had In Color envy as I perused pinterest and splitcoaststampers.  It seemed like an eternity waiting for my order to come in and yesterday when I returned home from work, lo' and behold there it was on my doorstep.  Giddy, I was!

It was a good sized order, even for me and as I tore through the box I was so happy there were leftovers in the fridge for dinner!

Brushed gold cardstock isn't new, but I haven't been inspired to want it until I saw the new In Color 2013-2015 collection.  Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantalope, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar, they all scream for a little gold accent.  I've poo-pooed gold for the last two decades, having had my fill of it in the 80's and early 90's.  So much so that I changed out my wedding band and engagement ring to platinum several years ago.  Gold is no longer passe and I welcome the reintroduction along with some really on trend new colors.

You just can't miss with a classic navy and gold combination with a tiny bit of crisp white; it's like sailing with the Kennedy's in Hyannis.  Or the Coppe's in Coituit.  Any captain or mate would be happy to receive this classy card.  It features the Open Sea stamp set, Banner Greetings stamp set from the new annual catalog (only available to hostesses) gold embossing powder, Brushed Gold, Whisper White and Night of Navy cardstock with an adorable Carrick Hitch knot fashioned from Whisper White Baker's twine.

Crisp White and Gold, another classic color combination and here, less is more.

Continuing with the nautical theme and the By the Seashore stamp set, a little something for mom in soft pastels like crisp cantalope and strawberry slush with a bit of watercoloring with our great Aqua Painter with our Classic Ink Pads-and a sliver of Champagne Glimmer paper.   I wish I was better at taking photos because this card is SOOO pretty in person. I love, love, love the pastel pinks and corals with gold accents. Soft and subtle, that strip of neon pink in the photo is really a subdued pink.  You'll have to trust me on this one. ;)

And lastly, a new favorite which sorta reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream - pistachio pudding and crumb cake card stock with a splattering of acrylic gold paint. The brand new Label Love stamp set and coordinating punch tie this wedding beauty together.

Can't wait to get the new In Color products? They're not available until May 31, but the Open Sea, and By the Seashore stamp sets, along with Night of Navy, Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Brushed Gold Card stock as well as embossing powder and Baker's Twine are all available now.  Call, text or email me with any questions or to book a workshop where you'll earn FREE products and visit my online store where you can shop 24/7 in the comfort of your home at www.lizvickerman.stampinup.net

I seriously love Valentines.

Not so much the day, but making them.  How weird is that?  I mean, the day itself is fine but I've never been one to make a huge deal out of it.  Arbitrary romance on a Thursday after a busy work week sorta sets the bar too high for me.  :D

I do, however, very much enjoy making Valentine cards and gifts.  Guess it takes me back to being really young and cutting hearts from construction paper and sticking them to doilies with glue and glitter.  Heh, not much has changed.

Hurry, these special sets are only available until January 21, 2013.  Perfect for kid's Valentine treats or cards.  Mine are on order and as soon as I get them, expect a fabulous treat post!  Stay tuned. Click here to get yours now. Shop our Clearance rack too!

Here are a couple of my Valentines from other Stampin' Up! sets...

It's a New Year

Wow.  Has it really been over a month since I've posted?  The holidays are always crazy and I find having to choose between spending time with my family, crafting and cooking always win out over blogging.  No, this doesn't help my business, but I wouldn't trade the joy of small simple things like spending time with family over it.

It's January and that means the new Spring 2013 Mini catalog is out and ready to be drooled over! There are some seriously gorgeous offerings and I fear I'm going to have absolutely everything in it.  I've already received a couple, a few,  ok a lot of items from it!

I think my most favorite item from the Spring catalog is the Honeycomb embossing folder; it sets such a beautiful background or foreground embellishment.

Don't you love the color combination here?  It's Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Very Vanilla and Bashful Blue.  So soft and homey.  It features the new Tea for Two Designer Series Paper, Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Oh Hello! stamp set and Oval Framelit dies from the Spring 2013 mini catalog.  I am totally in love with the large chevron stamp from the Oh Hello! set, it's so versatile.

Haven't seen the Spring 2013 catalog yet? Take a look here.
