You can still get your hands on Friendly Phrases until June 3, 2013 at my online store.
Thought I'd pay a little tribute to this very versatile set with a color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary
and adapted a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches
I'm not typically a three color person, I feel my safest using one or two (with a neutral like Whisper White, Very Vanilla or Crumb Cake) so this challenge pushed me - and I liked it!
I am thrilled with the way the X and O turned out, they remind me so much of a yellow and blue tie dye bikini I had years ago. I miss that bikini (and the body that went with it - lol)! I enjoyed this color challenge and will definitely work more toward three color combinations in the future.

ReplyDeleteabsolutely Lisa!
DeleteI first cut a strip of chipboard 1 3/4" square and used a sizzix adhesive sheet the same size to get it sticky. I then adhered the same size square of watercolor paper to the chipboard and ran it through the big shot with the Alpha Typeset die (for each letter) - I then watercolored from top to bottom using first Island Indigo (got it very dark), then So Saffron and lastly Pool Party. Once dried I sprizted with a mixture of part water, part Bleach (and I really can't tell you the exact measurement, as I took the homemade bleach spray from beneath my bathroom cabinet as I use it to clean the tub and shower! lol
The bleach will react almost instantly - you can go back and touch up with more color if you so choose. Hope this helps!
